My name is Farid Kalaidji. I’m the Security Solutions Lead at Pink Elephant Netherlands, where I’m responsible for our entire Microsoft SIEM and XDR portfolio — including Defender XDR, Sentinel, Entra ID, and Exposure Management.

I work closely with organizations across sectors to design and operationalize Microsoft’s security stack — from baseline configurations and attack surface reduction to SOC workflows and incident response.
Modernsecurity.nl is where I share practical knowledge from the field. No theory, no recycled marketing — just tested guidance and patterns that actually scale.
Why this blog?
There’s a gap sometimes between documentation and what’s really needed to build secure, manageable environments. I created this blog to help close that gap hopefully.
Modernsecurity.nl is for security architects, engineers, and SOC teams working with:
- Microsoft Defender XDR (Endpoint, Identity, Office, Cloud Apps)
- Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM and SOAR)
- Entra ID (MFA, Conditional Access, PIM, Identity Protection)
- DFIR, threat detection, response automation, and compliance readiness
Everything here is based on real deployments, (public) previews (via the Microsoft Security CCP), and continuous learning through customer environments.
What I do
At Pink Elephant, I lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Security solutions across hybrid, cloud, and regulated environments. I focus on:
- Defender XDR: deployment, tuning, and operational baselining
- Sentinel: detection engineering, automation, playbooks, TI integration
- Entra ID: Conditional Access, Identity Protection, guest governance
- DFIR & response workflows: live response, logging, selective containment
- Secure Score, Exposure Management, Purview, and NIS2-readiness
- Workshops and roadmap sessions with technical and executive stakeholders
My approach
This blog is my way of giving back to the community — documenting how things really work, what to watch out for, and how to build defensible configurations.
You’ll find:
- Field-tested guides for Microsoft security products
- Detection strategies and implementation patterns
- Risk-driven configuration decisions
- Shortcuts, gotchas, and workarounds from live environments
